For his long-standing support, his leadership on our Board of Directors, his outstanding volunteer efforts, and his dedication to bringing JA’s mission to life for local students … we are excited to announce JA Board Member Wayne Swenson of BayCoast Bank as our JA Supporter of the Week!
Wayne is a long-time JA supporter and member of Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts’ Board of Directors. He is also one of our most active volunteers, having taught JA Classroom Programs to thousands of students over the years.
Elaine Meredith, JA Program Director, said, “Wayne Swenson is one of Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts’ superstar volunteers! He can be counted on to teach a minimum of six classrooms a year. The teachers at Gardner Elementary School in Swansea and Holy Name in Fall River ask for him every year and the students really enjoy how he brings the JA materials to life for them.”
Wayne has also volunteered to serve as a Business Mentor for the JA Titan Business Challenge. This annual event brings together 200 high school students from across the region and gives them opportunities to participate in a dynamic learning experience using the interactive online business simulator JA Titan, hear from some of the region’s top business leaders, and compete for scholarship awards that can help make a higher education possible.
BayCoast Bank has hosted several JA Job Shadow experiences where Wayne and other team members speak to local students about their jobs. During these highly engaging events, students are able to observe a professional work environment, learn about the careers that are available, and learn which skills are necessary in a particular industry as well as the importance of educational attainment in achieving their goals.
“Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts benefits greatly from Wayne’s leadership on our Board of Directors. He has also been instrumental in strengthening our growing partnership with BayCoast Bank as we work together to bring free financial literacy education programs to students across the region. Wayne truly believes in JA’s mission to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy and he brings that mission to life through his outstanding volunteer efforts. We are so grateful for everything Wayne does to support Junior Achievement and our community!” – Jeffrey Pelletier, Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts President
With deep gratitude for all that he does to inspire thousands of local students with JA programs, we are proud to honor Wayne Swenson as our JA Supporter of the Week!
