JA Supporter of the Week: Sharon Macinnes

For her outstanding efforts to engage volunteers in Junior Achievement’s work and bring JA Programs to more local schools and students … we are excited to announce Sharon Macinnes of BankFive as our JA Supporter of the Week!

Junior Achievement Programs advance financial literacy, career readiness and entrepreneurship education, and they really come to life thanks to community volunteers like Sharon. Our volunteers teach JA Programs and also share their own career experiences – adding an important mentorship component to our work.

BankFive has been a long-time generous supporter of JA and they have gone above and beyond to engage their employees in our work across the community. Sharon’s extraordinary efforts in recent years have dramatically expanded this community partnership and helped us reach over a thousand students together. In addition to serving as a volunteer herself, Sharon has taken on the important role of coordinating all of our volunteer recruitment efforts within BankFive – matching community needs with the talent and expertise of their team members.

Sharon has also volunteered for and recruited BankFive team members to serve as Business Mentors at the annual JA Titan Business Challenge – a business competition that gives local high school students the opportunity to learn how to manage a business while competing for scholarship awards that can make a higher education possible.

“Sharon has had such an enormous impact on our ability to grow JA Programs in Southern Massachusetts! Thanks to Sharon's lead-by-example style, JA was able to more than double the number of students reached through BankFive volunteers and triple the number of BankFive employees that engage with JA. We’re so grateful for all that Sharon does for JA and our community!”  – Elaine Meredith, JA Program Director

With deep gratitude for Sharon’s continued efforts to expand JA’s Programs and volunteer recruitment efforts, we are proud to honor her as our JA Supporter of the Week!
