JA Supporter of the Week: Monica Furtado
Published: Wednesday, 16 Dec 2020
For her outstanding efforts as a volunteer for Junior Achievement’s programs across the region … we are excited to announce Monica Furtado of BayCoast Bank as our JA Supporter of the Week!
JA programs provide local students with an exciting introduction to the important topics of financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship, and these programs are made possible by community volunteers. These volunteers teach JA’s curriculum and also share their own career experiences – adding an important mentorship component to our work. Monica has been one of our leading community volunteers for years, teaching hundreds of local students important lessons around how to save and manage money and how they can one day start their own business. Monica has gone above beyond to incorporate more fun activities into her volunteer engagements, such as by introducing her students to local sports teams.
Monica has helped JA pivot our programming to digital experiences this school year, being one of our featured speakers in a recent virtual Finance Career Panel. BayCoast Bank has been a long-time supporter and partner of JA and Monica has also helped engage many of her colleagues in JA volunteer experiences as well.
“For years, Monica has been an all-star volunteer, supporter and volunteer recruiter and we are so grateful for all that she does for JA! She is always eager to volunteer whenever she can to help us grow our programs and reach more local youth. Monica has also been a fantastic JA advocate, helping us engage new volunteers and find fun new approaches to our work. We are so thankful for all that she does for JA and causes across the region!” – Jeffrey Pelletier, President of Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts
With deep gratitude for Monica’s continued efforts to positively impact local youth through JA, we are proud to honor her as our JA Supporter of the Week!
