For his dedication to preparing students for success through engaging learning opportunities like Junior Achievement … we are excited to announce Michael Lauro, Associate Executive Director of Atlantis Charter School, as our JA Supporter of the Week!

Mike has been a pivotal driving force behind Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts’ partnership with Atlantis Charter School. Thanks to the outstanding support and leadership of Mike and Robert Beatty, Executive Director of Atlantis Charter School, our partnership has grown from serving around 100 students per year in 2012 to serving over 1,200 students annually, reaching every student from Kindergarten through 10th grade.

In addition to JA Classroom Programs, Atlantis Charter School students have participated in JA Job Shadow experiences with companies including PrimaCare, P.C. and Saint Anne’s Hospital. The JA Job Shadow program provides students with the opportunity to visit local businesses where they can observe a professional work environment, learn about the careers that are available, and speak with employees about their jobs. Students also learn which skills are necessary in a particular industry and the importance of educational attainment in achieving their goals.

Atlantis Charter School students also participate in the annual JA Titan Business Challenge where they have the opportunity to participate in a dynamic learning experience using an interactive business simulator, hear from some of the region’s top business leaders, and compete for important scholarship awards that can help make a higher education possible.

This year, Atlantis Charter School is implementing several digital JA programs remotely, and their students will be competing in the first ever virtual JA Titan Week.

“The outstanding leadership of Mike Lauro and Robert Beatty has helped bring hundreds of JA’s free financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship programs to Atlantis Charter School students. Mike’s support has been instrumental in growing our partnership as he is always looking for new and exciting ways to engage his students in impactful learning experiences like JA Classroom Programs, JA Job Shadows, and the JA Titan Business Challenge. The impact of our programs would not be possible without the support of school administrators, and we are so very grateful for all Mike’s efforts to bring JA to his students!” – Jeffrey Pelletier, Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts President

With deep gratitude for his support of JA and his dedication to helping his students succeed, we are proud to honor Michael Lauro as our JA Supporter of the Week!
