JA Partner of the Month: Bristol County Savings Bank

For their long-time generous and important charitable support, and for their employees’ commitment to making a positive difference in our community … we are excited to announce Bristol County Savings Bank as our JA Partner of the Month!

Bristol County Savings Bank and the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation have been foundational partners to Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts in our work expanding financial literacy education across the region. They have served as the Title Sponsor of the JA Titan Business Challenge every year since the program’s inception in 2013, and with their leadership over 1,200 high school students have had the opportunity to participate in this day-long business strategy competition at UMass Dartmouth – learning key business and financial skills through the interactive business simulator JA Titan, hearing from some of our region’s top leaders, and competing for important scholarship awards that can help make a higher education possible.

Bristol County Savings Bank has also been a major supporter of the JA SPARK Program – a free two-year program for middle school girls from across Southern Massachusetts focused on leadership development and entrepreneurial thinking. Co-founded by Lou Ricciardi, President & Chief Executive Officer of Bristol Wealth Group, the program begins with a week-long residential summer experience at Massachusetts Maritime Academy where the girls learn the foundational skills of how to be an entrepreneur, and work in teams to create their own social enterprise business plans. Participants meet periodically throughout the following academic year and then return for a week-long residential summer experience at Bridgewater State University where they put their plans into action and launch their businesses. Bristol County Savings Bank’s support has been instrumental in the launch and success of this life-changing program.

In addition to the organization’s catalytic investments in JA’s programs, the Bristol County Savings Bank team is also actively involved in supporting our work across the region. Michael Patacao, Vice President, Senior Commercial Loan Officer, is a long-time JA Board Member, supporter and volunteer, and is currently in his second term as Chair of the Board of Directors. Lou Ricciardi is a Co-Founder and a Major Sponsor of the JA SPARK Program, and in addition to being actively involved in the program’s design, he serves as a mentor to the talented participants who take part in the program. Patrick Murray, President & CEO, and Michele Roberts, EVP, Chief Marketing and Community Relations Officer, have spoken at both the JA Titan Business Challenge and JA SPARK Program. Jeff Bradley, Vice President, Community Relations, and his team collaborate closely with JA to make our work together a success, with countless Bristol County Savings Bank employees having served as JA volunteers and participating in our special events.

All of this community engagement has led to the dramatic growth of JA’s programs in recent years and the continued expansion of innovative efforts such as our digital programs, which are helping us meet the needs of the schools and students we serve during this school year. Thanks to the support of our partners like Bristol County Savings Bank, everything we do is always 100% free for students and schools.

Bristol County Savings Bank and the Bristol County Savings Foundation have been transformational community partners for Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts and the thousands of students that we serve each year. Their generous support has helped us launch new and innovative educational initiatives and they have supported the capacity of our organization to grow rapidly in recent years. From Michael’s continued leadership as our Board Chair, to Lou’s game changing co-founding of the SPARK Program, to Patrick and Michele’s commitment to the continued growth of this partnership and Jeff’s collaboration across our various efforts together - their commitment to the community is self-evident and we are so grateful to call them partners!  – Jeff Pelletier, President of Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts

With deep gratitude for Bristol County Savings Bank’s outstanding support for JA, we are proud to honor them as our JA Partner of the Month!
