JA Partner of the Month: BayCoast Bank
Published: Thursday, 17 Dec 2020
For their generous charitable support of Junior Achievement’s free financial literacy education programs, and for their outstanding levels of employee engagement and volunteerism … we are excited to announce BayCoast Bank as our JA Partner of the Month!
BayCoast Bank employees are very actively involved in supporting local students by volunteering to teach Junior Achievement’s free K-12 financial literacy education programs in local classrooms. In addition, First Vice President Consumer Lending Wayne Swenson of BayCoast Bank has helped guide JA as a member of our Board of Directors, and has played a crucial leadership role in the development of our growing partnership with BayCoast Bank.
As the Presenting Sponsor of the JA Job Shadow Program, BayCoast Bank has hosted several successful job shadow events for local students at their headquarters in Swansea, MA. This highly engaging program provides high school students with the opportunity to visit a local business where they can observe a professional work environment, learn about the careers that are available, and speak with employees about their jobs.
BayCoast Bank also sponsors JA’s Titan Business Challenge – an annual event in which more than 200 high school students from across the region come together to learn foundational business skills through an online interactive business simulator, hear from some of the region’s top leaders, and compete for important scholarships awards that can help make a higher education possible. Employees from BayCoast Bank volunteer as business mentors, sharing their financial expertise and enhancing the connection between JA programs and the real world.
This year Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts is bringing JA’s founding program – the JA Company Program – back to our local students, and BayCoast Bank is serving as one of the first Student Company Sponsors. Through this free after-school deep-dive program, high school students are empowered to solve a problem in their community by building and managing their own startup business.
BayCoast Bank employees also support Junior Achievement in our fundraising events – particularly the JA Strikes for Success annual bowling event – which help keep all our programs free for local students and schools.
“We’re so very grateful for our strong and growing partnership with BayCoast Bank. From their employees volunteering to teach traditional JA programs in local classrooms, to their sponsorship of new and innovative initiatives like the JA Company Program, the Bank’s support has been instrumental in allowing us to continue expanding and deepening our impact across Southern Massachusetts.” – Jeffrey Pelletier, President, Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts
For their dedication to spreading financial literacy education across the region through generous charitable support and employee volunteerism, we are proud to honor BayCoast Bank as our JA Partner of the Month!
